In theory, the detrimental effects of television apply equally to males and females. However, it is important to consider the violations of tznius related negative commandments vis-a-vis guys watching tv...

While TV is definitely detrimental to frum people of both genders; the issues of a)tznius and b)zera l'vatalah lead me to believe that it is probably worse for men than woman to watch TV because there is more potential for sin.

a) In terms of tznius; TV viewers are subjected to a disproportionately greater amount of female immodesty broadcast on TV than male immodesty.

b) The excessive female immodesty on TV can surely induce some male viewers to be motzie zerah l'vatalah.

I agree that from a Halachic standpoint It may be worse for men.
As far from a Hashkafa stanpoint, It's eaqual on that level. being Metame the mind is alot more difficult to counteract. When someone has impulses or emotions that need to be corrected you can use power of the mind to correct it. Emotions are alos more volotile and therefore easier to work on. When the mind has ideas that should not be there the problem is much deeper and harder to correct.
As far as learning, why should a girl not be able to learn something. The cleansing efect of Torah is due to the fact that this is Chochmas Hashem, that includes any part of torah.
